(HUDSON, N.Y.) – New York City-based indie-rock group Spottiswoode & His Enemies, led by Englishman Jonathan Spottiswoode, will celebrate the release of its brand-new recording, English Dream, at Club Helsinki Hudson on Saturday, April 19, at 9pm. With his deep, gravelly voice, his quirky, acerbic songwriting, and his eclectic musical palette, Spottiswoode should appeal to fans of Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, the National, Ray Davies, Randy Newman and Nick Cave.

EXHIBIT FEATURES PAINTERS INFLUENCED by the NEW YORK SCHOOL
(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Works by three artists who painted during the Abstract Expressionist movement in New York City in the 1960s — Lionel Gilbert, Judith Lindbloom, and William Bond Walker — will be shown in Under the Influence (of the New York School) at Carrie Haddad Gallery on Warren Street from Saturday, April 19, 2014, through June 1, 2014. There will be an opening reception on Saturday, April 26, from 6 to 8pm.
FOLK-ROCK ROYALTY BEN TAYLOR COMING to HELSINKI HUDSON
(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Fresh from a tour of Northern Europe and the United Kingdom, folk-rock singer-songwriter Ben Taylor will perform at Club Helsinki Hudson on Friday, April 18, at 9pm. Taylor, a longtime favorite of Helsinki audiences dating back to the club’s origins in Great Barrington, Mass., is touring with a new batch of songs, slated for a new album tentatively titled Clouds In The Dirt and due to be released in May 2014. Taylor released his last studio album, Listening, in late 2012. The fabulous Woodstock singer-songwriter Simi Stone will warm up the crowd for Taylor with a solo acoustic set of her patented “Mountain Motown” music.

DANCE INSTALLATION to INAUGURATE 2014 SEASON at BASILICA HUDSON
(HUDSON, N.Y.) – A collaboration between world-renowned choreographer Jonah Bokaer and visual artist Anthony McCall, kicks off the 2014 performance season at Basilica Hudson on Friday and Saturday, April 25 and 26, at 7:30pm. Eclipse is a multidisciplinary performance that integrates choreography, light, visual design, and an audio-visual time score to arrive at altered ways of viewing a performance.
