(GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass.) – The award-winning Trio Appassionata will perform works Beethoven, Ives and Ravel at the Kellogg Music Center at Simon’s Rock College on Saturday, January 17, 2015, at 7pm. The members of the trio are violinist Lydia Chernicoff, originally from Great Barrington; Brazilian pianist Ronaldo Rolim; and Spanish cellist Andrea Casarrubios.
The group has recently returned from their second European tour, where they performed to sold-out houses in Spain, Italy and England, including the Festival of American Music in London. They have performed extensively throughout North America, including appearances at Carnegie Hall, the Smithsonian Institution, and Bard College.
Their recently released CD, “gone into night are all the eyes,” on Odradek Records, features piano trios by American composers.
The Simons’ Rock program will include Beethoven’s Trio in E-flat Major; the Trio for Violin, Cello and Piano by Charles Ives; and Ravel’s Trio in A minor.
Praised for its communicative power, engaging performances, and the ability to bring audiences from different cultures together through music, Trio Appassionata has been performing since 2007. Coming from three distinct backgrounds, its members have been awarded numerous scholarships and prizes at competitions around the globe.
