All-Star Jazz Group to Pay Tribute to 1960s Blue Note Era at Spencertown Academy

(SPENCERTOWN, N.Y.) — Intentional Jazz, a six-piece ensemble boasting a cast of Northeast U.S. jazz all-stars, will perform a tribute to the Blue Note era, featuring music by the likes of Art Blakey, Wayne Shorter, Freddie Hubbard, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, and Horace Silver, in the kickoff of a four-concert jazz series at Spencertown Academy Arts Center on Saturday, February 13, at 7:30pm. Led by trumpeter Rob Fisch, the group includes Aaron Dean, (sax), Dave Pickard (trombone), David Bartley (piano), Dave Christopolis (bass), and Steve Collins (drums).

This ensemble of veteran musicians will perform selections such as “All Blues,” “Nardis,” and “Blue in Green” by Miles Davis, “My Favorite Things” by Richard Rogers but brought into the jazz idiom by John Coltrane, “Doxy” by Sonny Rollins, and “Sister Sadie” by Horace Silver.

General admission tickets ($20/$10 for students) may be purchased online at Spencertown Academy Arts Center and will be available at the door.
