(PITTSFIELD, Mass.) – Claiming more than 3,000 visitors in its inaugural run last month, the organizers of 10X10 On North – a winter contemporary arts festival in downtown Pittsfield – have scheduled a second run for February 2013.

According to organizers, a total of 44 performances took place February 16-26, featuring more than 120 new works including plays, spoken word, music, and art exhibitions, including more than 50 works specifically created for 10X10 On North.

Downtown restaurants saw higher than usual traffic compared to normal business during the winter months, say observers.

Spearheaded by Barrington Stage in partnership with the city of Pittsfield, 10X10 On North venues and participating groups included the Beacon Cinema, Berkshire Actors Theatre, Berkshire International Film Festival (BIFF), Downtown Pittsfield Inc., Ferrin Gallery, Gallery 25, Lichtenstein Center for the Arts and the City of Pittsfield, Mission Bar + Tapas, New Stage Performing Arts Center, Pittsfield Bra & Girl, Shawn’s Barber Shop and Y Bar.

With the success of the inaugural 10X10 On North, plans are underway to present a second annual festival February 14-24, 2013.

“The 10X10 On North Festival adds to the city of Pittsfield’s year-round vibrancy and helps make our community more attractive to new businesses, new residents and new visitors,” said Mayor Daniel Bianchi. “I look forward to seeing an even bigger impact in 2013.”
