Museum Show Highlights Creative Economy Partnership Between Artist and Design Firm

(PITTSFIELD, Mass.) –  The results of a collaboration between a Berkshires-based artist and design firm are displayed at Berkshire Museum, in Pittsfield, Mass., a living example of how the creative economy has replaced the manufacturing economy in this once-thriving industrial city.

In 2010, Tom Patti, a Berkshires-based artist renowned worldwide for his innovative work in glass, was commissioned by Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield, Mass., to create an original work for the museum’s entry vestibule and lobby area. The site-specific installation was unveiled on June 29, 2012, and is the first major commission by Patti for a public building in the Berkshires.

Since 2009, Studio Two has been developing and managing the brand of Tom Patti. As part of the installation, Studio Two designed event branding, invitation collateral, and informational panels that provide context and history to the commission. These panels and the event design build on Patti’s brand as previously articulated in his print collateral, website, and other elements. Studio Two worked closely with the Berkshire Museum and the museum’s director of interpretation on the design and production of these elements.

“Because the brand direction has been solidly in place for the past 3 years, handling the commission materials was a matter of engaging the tools we already had in place. Tom is a design thinker in the deepest sense and as such had a very specific way he wanted this commission to be showcased. He approaches every new project with a passion and enthusiasm that is an inspiration to anyone that appreciates contemporary design.” said design director Heather Rose. “This is a fantastic way for a local audience to interact with a brand that has been on the international stage for decades and is now being showcased at home.”

Studio Two is a leading brand strategy and design firm with offices in Lenox, Mass., and Miami, Fla.
