(GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass.) – Tony Award-winning singer and actress Betty Buckley performs at the Mahaiwe in Ah, Men! The Boys of Broadway on Sunday, August 19, 2012, at 7pm. The concert features Buckley performing men’s songs from Broadway shows that she has always wanted to sing, including numbers from Sweeney Todd, West Side Story, Guys and Dolls, On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, Pippin, Mame, and La Cage aux Folles. Accompanying her will Clifford Carter on piano and Tony Marino on bass. She debuted the stage show earlier this year in New York and released a CD of its music this summer with Palmetto Records.
Buckley won a Tony Award for her performance as Grizabella, the Glamour Cat, in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats. She received her second Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance as Hesione in Triumph of Love, and an Olivier Award nomination for her interpretation of Norma Desmond in the London production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Sunset Boulevard, which she repeated to more rave reviews on Broadway. Among her many television credits are starring for three seasons in the HBO series Oz and as Abby Bradford in the hit series Eight Is Enough.
The Mahaiwe is located at 14 Castle Street in Great Barrington, Mass. Box office hours are Wednesday through Saturday from noon to 6:00pm and three hours before show times.
