(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Club Helsinki Hudson kicks off the long leadup to Christmas beginning on Friday, December 21, at 9pm, with Everett Bradley’s Holidelic, a Christmas-infused funk show, followed the next night (Saturday, December 22 at 8pm) by Mistletoe Martinis with Musty, a Christmas cabaret featuring Musty Chiffon, her frisky elves, a bevy of voluptuous belles called The Kookettes, musical director Michael Holland and cello diva Melora Creager (of Rasputina). Following the cabaret, at 10pm, is XMess Kook, a holiday-themed dance party.
Everett Bradley’s Holidelic returns to Helsinki after selling out night after night at NY’s Joe’s Pub. This holiday funk-tacular blends the influences of P-Funk, Sly Stone and other 1970s and ‘80s funk and soul bands into original songs that celebrate diversity, mild familial seasonal dysfunction and holiday booty shaking.
Holidelic was conceived of as a celebration of the true holiday spirit of joy and giving, and since its inception in 2002, performances have featured a range of artists from Living Colour’s Vernon Reid, The B-52’s Fred Schneider, SNL’s Shawn Pelton and hip hop artist John Forte to pop chanteuse Lucy Woodward, dancing trombonist Jonathan Arons, and the legendary Celeste Holm. Holidelic explores the holidays and modern culture in a playful, loving, humorous performance that is hardly traditional but a whole lot of fun. Celebrating uniqueness and diversity with the power of the groove as his common denominator, Everett Bradley’s fresh, wide-eyed look at the holiday season has rejuvenated thousands of bah-humbug spirits.
Following Mistletoe Martinis with Musty on Saturday night, the dance floor will be cleared for KOOK – The Kristmas Party, at 10 p.m., powered by the sounds of DJ Gio and DJ-ess Musty Chiffon. The evening includes: Go-going for your eye candycane. It’s Rock Pop Soul Hip Hop Trance Dance late into the night. Holiday Dress if you please.
