New Band of Regional Rock Royalty to Debut at Helsinki

(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Members of several of the Hudson region’s top bands have joined forces to form a sort of supergroup called the Faux Meek, which will have its live debut at Club Helsinki Hudson on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at 8pm, when it warms up the crowd for slide guitar wizard The Faux MeekDavid Jacobs-Strain. Featuring musicians from Mother Fletcher, Two Gun Man, Citizen Band and the Luxury Flats, the Faux Meek is a quartet that plays a moody style of organic drone-rock featuring vocal harmonies, electric guitar and dreamy keyboards. Think the Velvet Underground meets the Grateful Dead at a Cocteau Twins concert.

On Saturday night, the Faux Meek will debut a slew of new songs slated for recording next month at the Hudson studio of Tommy Stinson (the Replacements, Guns ‘n’ Roses). Lead vocals are shared by guitarist/songwriter Josh Miesmer (Two Gun Man) and keyboardist Damara Rose Stolfo, formerly of Luxury Flats, who also contributes songwriting to the group. Gabe Schaftlein provides the group’s underpinning on bass guitar, and Rob Williams, who shared membership in Mother Fletcher with Miesmer and Schaftlein, holds down the drum chair and contributes backup vocals.

The Faux Meek plans to release its first tracks digitally on Saturday night.
