(NEW LEBANON, N.Y.) – Cellist Sebastian Bäverstam and pianist Yannick Rafalimanana will perform works by Bach, Beethoven and Brahms in the Tannery at Darrow School on Saturday, June 8, 2013, at 8pm, as part of the Concerts at Tannery Pond chamber music series. Both young musicians have already garnered critical acclaims and awards. They first joined up as a duo for Tannery Pond Concerts for the 2012 benefit, when they played the Kodaly Sonata for Solo Cello and the Sonata in A major by Cesar Franck.
The program will feature J.S. Bach’s Cello Suite No. 1 in G major; Ludwig van Beethoven’s Cello Sonata No. 3 in A major, Op. 69; and Johannes Brahms’s Cello Sonata No. 2 in F major, Op. 99.
Ba?verstam won the Concert Artist Guild International Competition in 2009. French pianist Yannick Rafalimanana has developed an international concert career, performing recitals and chamber music concerts regularly throughout Europe, the United States, South America, Africa and Middle East. Winning the first prize in the 2012 Tufts/New England Conservatory Soloist Competition, he made his US debut in Symphony Hall in Boston, playing the Schumann Concerto with the Boston Pops Orchestra under the baton of Keith Lockhart.
