(PITTSFIELD, Mass.)  – The eighth annual edition of Songs by Ridiculously Talented Composers and Lyricists You Probably Don’t Know But Should…, a cabaret hosted by Tony Award-winning composer/lyricist William Finn (Falsettos, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) featuring works by a new generation of Broadway songwriting talent, takes place at Barrington Stage on Friday, August 30 and Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 8pm. Performers include Elizabeth Stanley and Alysha Umphress, both of whom starred in Barrington Stage Company’s critically acclaimed production of On the Town that kicked off the summer 2013 season.

William Finn will narrate this popular introduction to new voices in musical theatre, sharing his insights about what makes a good lyric, why some work and others don’t, in a kind of informal, entertaining songwriting master class taught by the master himself.

The composers and lyricists represented are Danny Abosch, James Ballard, Nikko Benson, Christina Capatides, Noel Carey, Sam Chanse, Seth Christenfeld, Maggie-Kate Coleman, Josh Freilich, Benny Gammerman, Emily Goldman, Benjamin Halstead, Oliver Houser, Joe Iconis, Michael R. Jackson, Anna K. Jacobs, Micah Joel, Jonathan Keebler, Bob Kelly, Chris Miller, Sara Nicholson, Jonathan Pearson, Brian Pugach, Bret Ryback, Sam Salmond, Bryan Scary, Christopher Staskel, Elizabeth Suggs, Joseph Trefler, Nathan Tysen, Joel Waggoner, and William Finn.
