Arlo Guthrie Headlines Fairview Hospital Benefit at Mahaiwe

Arlo Guthrie(GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass.) – Arlo Guthrie headlines the 2013 Fairview Hospital Centennial Gala this Saturday, September 28, 2013, at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center. Joining Guthrie in “Arlo Guthrie – Here Come the Kid(s)” are son Abe Guthrie, grandson Krishna Guthrie, and longtime drummer/sidekick Terry A La Berry.

The benefit will raise funds for technology at Fairview Hospital’s Surgical Unit. The event will also celebrate the role of the community in sustaining its hospital through the century by honoring supporters Anne and Ernest Schnesel of North Egremont, “a couple who have supported Fairview Hospital in many ways, and are known to many organizations in the community for their hard work and generosity to improve the lives of others,” said hospital president Eugene Dellea.

“As Fairview recognizes ‘100 Years of Caring,’ we celebrate the strong reputation this hospital has earned over the years for offering compassionate, personal healthcare of a small community hospital backed by the clinical and financial strength of a leading healthcare system, Berkshire Health Systems,” said Dellea.

In addition to the festivities, a “Tree of Life” drawing will be offered, with the grand prize of a “Tree of Life” pendant handmade exclusively for the event by McTeigue and McClelland Jewelers in Great Barrington. This one-of-a-kind piece is made of platinum with 26 diamonds embedded in the design.

“The symbol of this exquisite jewelry reflects the importance of Fairview to everyone in the community. Many people actually refer to Fairview as ‘the jewel on the hill’ in Great Barrington,” said Elaine Mack, who is co-chairing the event with Carrie Herrington and Cheryl Raifstanger.  Only 100 drawing tickets will be sold.

Following the performance at the Mahaiwe, there will be fireworks for the entire community to enjoy, at approximately 9:45 p.m.

The evening will begin with a buffet reception under a tent on the Town Hall Green across from the Mahaiwe.  Pre-registration is required and tickets are available for both the buffet reception and show by calling Fairview Hospital at 413.854.9609.  Concert-only tickets are available by calling the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center Box Office at 413.528.0100.
