Jazz Singer-Pianist Diana Krall to Perform at UPAC

Diana Krall(KINGSTON, N.Y.) – Diana Krall, one of modern jazz’s most popular singer-pianists, brings her “Glad Rag Doll World Tour” to UPAC on Sunday, October 13, 2013, at 7pm.  Krall’s tour is named after her most recent album, which found her covering rare and obscure proto-rock songs such as Doc Pomus’s “Lonely Avenue” and Gene Austin’s “Let It Rain.”

A departure from Krall’s usual approach, her most recent album was produced by T Bone Burnett and featured guitar accompaniment by Marc Ribot, Bryan Sutton and Colin Linden, keyboards by Keefus Green, and a rhythm section of drummer Jay Bellerose and bassist Dennis Crouch.

Diana Krall is one of the best-selling jazz artists of our time. She has won two Grammy Awards and Juno Awards in her native Canada.  Her style has ranged from Nat King Cole to bossa nova to Burt Bacharach. In recent years, the influence of her husband, Elvis Costello, can be glimpsed in some of her music.
