(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Singer-songwriter Allison Moorer will bring her country-inflected brand of folk-rock to Club Helsinki Hudson on Friday, November 15, at 9pm. The Alabama-raised singer — the younger sister of country singer Shelby Lynne and sometime singing-partner of Americana icon Steve Earle — garnered an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song for “A Soft Place to Fall,” which was featured in Robert Redford’s film “The Horse Whisperer.”

Moorer’s most recent album, “Crows,” received worldwide critical acclaim, with the Huffington Post stating that she was “blessed with one of the best voices of her generation.” It was the follow up to her celebrated collection of covers, “Mockingbird,” which featured songs by female singer-songwriters including Patti Smith, Lucinda Williams, Joni Mitchell and Shelby Lynne.

In addition to her solo work, Moorer records and tours as part of Steve Earle & the Dukes and Duchesses. She also wrote the song “Oklahoma Sky,” which closed Miranda Lambert’s 2011 hit album “Four the Record.”

Moorer has been featured on releases by Joan Baez, Kid Rock, Steve Earle, the Chieftains, and Los Straightjackets. Moorer was also featured in “The People Speak,” a beautiful and moving documentary inspired by Howard Zinn’s popular text “A People’s History of the United States.” The film, presented by the History Channel, also featured Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Danny Glover, Matt Damon and others.
