(GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass.) – “Good People Go To Hell, Saved People Go To Heaven,” a new documentary by Williamstown filmmaker Holly Hardman examining the arcane world of evangelical outreach rallies, high-octane church services, and old-time tent revivals, will be screened at the Triplex Cinema on Sunday, January 19 at 11am, in a presentation by the BIFF REEL Friends Film Society. Film director Hardman will be in attendance for a Q&A following the film. The event includes a farm-to-table brunch prepared by chef Daire Rooney of Allium Restaurant.

The film, which premiered at IDFA 2012, deftly manages to cover the breadth and complexity of Christian End-Times culture while focusing on one family’s riveting saga of faith and conflict.

Critics are praising the film and Hardman.  New York Arts wrote, “Hardman has bravely taken on one of the great American themes, religious “enthusiasm,” or fanaticism…See this film, see it twice and more. It is a fascinating and disquieting picture of an aspect of American life few of us will see in any other way.”  And Le Movie Snob wrote, “Director Holly Hardman has the rare talent Michael Moore displayed in his début movie (before he made himself the star of his subsequent documentaries), that of having the patience to let the subjects speak long enough without interference.”

Good People posterThe film and brunch are open to the public. Tickets are $25 per person (gratuity not included.) Film screening without brunch is $5 at the door. RSVP to the BIFF office at 413-528-8030.

The 10th annual Berkshire International Film Festival will be held May 29 through June 1 in Great Barrington and Pittsfield. Passes are now on sale for the 2014 BIFF and can be purchased online at Berkshire International Film Festival.
