Alternative Rock Superstar Beck to Perform at MASS MoCA

beck(NORTH ADAMS, Mass.) – Beck, one of the most critically acclaimed and influential creative forces in alternative rock over the past 20 years, will perform at MASS MoCA on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at 8:30pm. The concert comes on the heels of the release of “Morning Phase,” a career-topping album that harkens to the heyday of 1970s California folk-rock and orchestral rock, an album awash in beautiful textures and sounds, and an album that has already been likened in impact and significance to Bob Dylan’s “Blood on the Tracks.”

Beck was one of the first significant artists to blend a singer-songwriter, folk-rock approach with hip-hop touches. His breakthrough single, “Loser”, became a worldwide hit in 1994, and his 1996 release, “Odelay,” produced hit singles, topped critic polls and won several awards. His idiosyncratic approach in recording and performing has often been described as “post-modern,” and he leaps with seeming ease among genres including folk, funk, soul, hip-hop, alternative rock, country and psychedelia, often recording, Stevie Wonder-style, as a one-man band playing all the instruments.

Beck’s MASS MoCA performance will be the only New England stop on his summer tour. Tickets, which are $50 advance / $54 day of show, go on sale Saturday, March 15, at noon. Pre-sale tickets go on sale Wednesday, March 12, at 10am. Tickets are available only through the MASS MoCA box office. There is a limit of 6 tickets per order.
