(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Seth’s Sauerkraut Revue, a mini-festival of regional Americana and honky-tonk performers hosted by “Sauerkraut” Seth Travins, returns to Club Helsinki Hudson on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at 9pm, featuring Miss Tess; Melora Creager (of Rasputina); Pat Linnan (of Nature Films); the Minivans; Robby Lee Coalter; Chris Neumann; and a reunion of Jim Krewson and Jennie Benford (of Jim and Jennie and the Pinetops). The house band for the evening will be Chops and Sauerkraut.

With her band the Talkbacks, Miss Tess – who will be performing with Talkbacks guitarist Thomas Bryan Eaton – plays a blend of saloon jazz, country swing, early rockabilly, and New Orleans second line, all mixed together in her signature style.

Hudson’s own Melora Creager is a singer-songwriter and cellist who founded the cello-rock group Rasputina and toured with Nirvana. Many of Creager’s songs are history-based, and her music is a fascinating blend of Renaissance madrigal, prog-rock and freak-folk.

Jim Krewson and Jennie Benford met in 1998 in the wilds of Pennsylvania. Benford grew up in a bluegrass-loving family, full of Stanley Brothers, Bill Monroe and the like, but spent her teen years trying to figure out the meaning of the cover of Zeppelin’s “Houses of the Holy.” Jim Krewson spent his formative years immersed in hardcore punk and experimental rock. Together with banjoist Brad Hutchinson, they formed the Pinetops, and set out to fulfill their ambition of winning over both the bluegrass crowd and a broader audience that wasn’t necessarily familiar with it.

The Minivans are regional country-music favorites featuring Kiki and Melissa Dufault on vocals and Lukas Schwartz on fiddle.

Chops and Sauerkraut are a hard-edged rockabilly, honky-tonk and garage band influenced by Carl Perkins, the Standells, ? and the Mysterians, Frankie Yankovic, Elvis Presley, Bob Wills, and the Cramps, featuring upright bassist Chops Laconte (Lustre Kings, Wanda Jackson) and “Sauerkraut” Seth Travins (the Wiyos) on vocals and guitar. Jim Krewson will hold down the drum seat for this show.

The evening’s host, “Sauerkraut” Seth Travins, makes organic lacto-fermented sauerkrauts and kimchee under his own label in Hudson. Seth’s original sauerkraut is served on the bar menu at Helsinki Hudson.
