Choral Society to Perform Works by Rosephanye Powell, William Byrd, Elgar, Mendelssohn, and Rachmaninoff

hudson valley choral society(HILLSDALE, N.Y.) – The Hudson Valley Choral Society will perform works by Rosephanye Powell, William Byrd, Edward Elgar, Felix Mendelssohn, Sergei Rachmaninoff, and others at its spring concert at the United Methodist Church in Hillsdale on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 7:30pm. The singers will be accompanied by Gili Melamed-Lev, piano; Everett McNair, percussion; and Cheryl Jones, flute. The concert will be conducted by Gretchen Rueckheim.
Formally organized in 1974 in Columbia County, the Hudson Valley Choral Society is celebrating 40 years of providing classical and contemporary choral music in a chamber setting to the people of the region. Members of the choral society reflect the community and include artists, nurses, farmers, bankers, teachers, social workers, and retired people.

The United Methodist Church is located at the crossroads of Routes 22 and 23 in Hillsdale. Parking is available at several locations near the church. Tickets may be purchased at the door: $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, no charge for students under 18, or tickets may be purchased in advance at 518-794-9831 or 518-828-3698.
