(SHEFFIELD, Mass.) – Les Inegales, the French Baroque duo featuring Rodrigo Tarraza on traverso (Baroque transverse flute) and Christine Gevert on harpsichord, will perform works by French and German Baroque composers at Dewey Hall on Sunday, May 25, 2014, at 4pm.
The program, to be played on period instruments, includes works by the French composers Joseph Bodin de Bosmortier, Jean-Henri D’Anglebert, Jacques Martin Hottetere, Jean-Baptiste-Antoine Forqueray and Michel Blavet, and by the two German composers Johann Sebastian Bach and Georg Philipp Telemann.
Hotteterre, Blavet, J.S. Bach and Telemann wrote some of the greatest Baroque works for flute and harpsichord. As different as the national styles of France and Germany are, they also share many qualities. Particularly Blavet, Bach and Telemann wrote in a style called “mixed taste” or goûts réunis.
Tickets are $25 at the door or available online from Brown Paper Tickets.
