(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Melora Creager, best known as founder and leader of the historical cello-rock band Rasputina, will be in residence at Club Helsinki Hudson on Mondays in November, in a series called “Mondays with Melora,” featuring her band the Calico Indians plus special guests. The dates are November 3, 10, 17 and 24, at 8pm.
Creager says the performances — which will include a mix of old originals re-orchestrated for the new group, old covers re-originalized, and new songs, including a few about Columbia County — are intended as a live “lab” with “an ear to recording.”
“We are keeping the spirit alive – the spirit of the drunken teenaged anarchists that waged war against the patroons all over our area, all throughout the 1800s,” she says.
Creager, who sings and plays cello and banjo, will be accompanied by Chops LaConte on stand-up bass, Ryder Cooley on musical saw and vocals, and Luis Mojica on piano and vocals and Timothy Oakley on drums.
Special guests will include singer-violinist Eszter Balint, Kiki * d, and Wild Boy with Clare Felice.
In addition to her band Rasputina, Melora Creager, who calls Hudson home, has played with Nirvana, Marilyn Manson, Bob Mould, Cheap Trick, Joan Osborne, Porno for Pyros, and others.
