(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Soul legend Lee Fields & The Expressions will ring out the old and ring in the new with their old-school soul and R&B at Club Helsinki Hudson for a New Year’s Eve dance party on Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at 9pm. Fields is nicknamed “Little JB” for his physical and vocal resemblance to James Brown, and his music also recalls vintage Marvin Gaye.
Fields released his first single in 1969. Since at time, the North Carolina native has amassed a prolific catalog of albums and has toured and played with such legends as Kool and the Gang, Sammy Gordon and the Hip-Huggers, O.V Wright, Darrell Banks, and Little Royal.
Recent highlights of Fields’s career since he teamed with the Expressions include opening slots for the Black Keys, Pretty Lights, and Wilco, as well as performing in front of 7,000 people at Rosklide, 10,000 people at Red Rocks, and sold-out shows in New York, San Francisco, Los Angles, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, London, Montreal, Austin, Houston, New Orleans and many more.
Fields’s gritty voice – one part church, one part bedroom – and the Expressions classic sound can’t help but bring a listener back to the heyday of soul, when Al Green, Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, and Stevie Wonder ruled the roost. There couldn’t be a better way to usher in the new year than with such tried-and-true sounds as those of Lee Fields & the Expressions.
