(SHEFFIELD, Mass.) – Regional swing outfit One Straw Revolution will help Race Brook Lodge revive its Swing Night with a reunion concert in the Barn Space at Race Brook on Saturday, January 2, at 8pm.
One Straw Revolution is well known by the southern Berkshire community, which frequently swung to the group’s rhythms in the late 1990s at the the Old Egremont Club. In this father-son band, Jonathan Suters plays guitar, his father Roger Suters, plays bass, Bobby MacVeety on guitar and vocals, Conor Meehan plays drums, and Peter McEachern on trombone.
Race Brook Lodge has hosted numerous Swing Nights in the past, drawing members of the community ranging from those curious to try swing for the first time to experienced dancers.
“I immediately fell in love with the timeless song and moves of swing dancing when travelling through Dublin,” said founder of the Swing Night series Elizabeth Orenstein. “A social gathering to dance, and the community which swing fosters, is so rare in this age. For too long South County has lacked social dancing in a social space, but Race Brook provides both the perfect atmosphere and excellent food and drink for our Swing Nights.”
The Stagecoach Tavern will be serving a $35 Prix Fixe before the dancing begins for ticket purchasers. Call (413) 229 8585 to reserve a table.
