(NORTH ADAMS, Mass.) — Joe Pera bring his deadpan standup comedy style to the Dré Pavilion at MASS MoCA on Saturday, July 9, at 8pm. The Buffalo-born, Brooklyn-based comic has been called “… more Twilight Zone than Moth, more Andy Kaufman than Chris Gethard.”

Joe Pera, recently seen on “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” studied film at Ithaca College, where he competed and won the college’s stand-up competition three times. After school he moved to New York City, where he’s been on the stand-up scene since 2009. Known for his doubly deadpan style, Pera’s stories revolve around his Buffalo upbringing and play off his boyish appearance, yet geriatric on-stage demeanor. His work on the exceptionally hilarious web series Pancake Breakfast Critic shows “the escalating depth of a comic persona that constantly flip[s] between unthreatening and strange” (The Daily Dot), and his Twitter bio quaintly boasts, “People say I remind them of their grandfather.”

Pera currently co-stars in the web series “How to Make It in USA” with Connor O’Malley and can be seen on Adam Devine’s “House Party.” He performs the weekly “The Dan + Joe + Charles Show” with comedian friends Dan Licata and Charles Gould at The Creek and The Cave Theater in Long Island City, and was named a Comedy Central Comic to Watch, along with Splitsider’s 2015 Top Up-and-Coming Comedians.

Pera’s work has appeared on web-based comedy channels Super Deluxe and Jash, and he hosts a weekly show at the UCB Theater in New York City. Pera is also the creator and star of the animated Adult Swim show Joe Pera Talks You to Sleep, and has appeared on TruTV’s Friends of the People.

Joe Pera tackles race and talks about pancakes on MASS MoCA’s Dré Pavilion (or up in Club B10 if it rains) on Saturday, July 9, at 8pm. An evening menu is available from Lickety Split before and during the show. MASS MoCA’s full bar serves Bright Ideas Brewing and Berkshire Mountain Distillery spirits. Tickets are $16 for students and in advance, $22 day of, and $28 preferred.

Tickets for all events are available through the MASS MoCA box office located on Marshall Street in North Adams, open 11am to 5pm every day except Tuesdays through June 24, 2016. Beginning June 25, the box office will be open 10am to 6pm every day, with extended evening hours to 7pm on Thursdays through Saturdays. Tickets can also be charged by phone by calling 413.662.2111 x1 during box office hours or purchased online at MASS MoCA. All events are held rain or shine.
