JUSTIN TOWNES EARLE to BRING ORIGINAL FOLK-ROCK to HELSINKI HUDSON

(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Americana music scion Justin Townes Earle – the son of Steve Earle – will bring his country-inflected brand of folk-rock to Club Helsinki Hudson on Sun, Nov 19, at 8pm. Nashville singer-songwriter Joshua Hedley warms up the crowd for Earle.

HUDSON VALLEY LANDSCAPES at CARRIE HADDAD

(HUDSON, N.Y.) – An exhibition of contemporary Hudson Valley Landscapes by artists including Jane Bloodgood-Abrams, Leigh Palmer, Harry Orlyk is on view at Carrie Haddad Gallery from Wed, Nov 15 to Sun, Dec 31. An opening reception for the artists takes place on Sat, Nov 18, from 5 to 7pm. Other artists represented in the show include Bill Sullivan, Don Bracken, Eileen Murphy, John Kelly, Joseph Maresca, Judy Reynolds, Tracy Helgeson, Sue Bryan, and Richard Britell.

‘MOTHER OF US ALL’ SALON SERIES

(HUDSON, N.Y.) – With rave reviews pouring in from national publications, R.B. Schlather’s staging of Gertrude Stein and Virgil Thomson’s opera “The Mother of Us All” at Hudson Hall is all sold out. Fortunately, Hudson Hall has built a series of talks and conversations around the mainstage show, including Gertrude Stein, Susan B, & History Interrupt One Another, with Stein scholar Joan Retallack and poet erica kaufman (Wed, Nov 15, 6pm); BLACK DADA: A Conversation with Adam Pendleton (Sat, Nov 18, 6pm); and a curtain-closing dance party, The Mother of All Town Balls, featuring Hudson’s own DJ Fulathela.

NEW PAINTING of HILLSDALE ANCHORS SOLO EXHIBIT at NEUMANN FINE ART

(HILLSDALE, N.Y.) – Hometown, a solo exhibition of oil and watercolor paintings of small-town life by Jeffrey L. Neumann, is on view at Neumann Fine Art from Sat, Nov 18, through Sat, Dec 30. Anchoring the exhibition will be Neumann’s latest oil painting, “Hillsdale, April afternoon,” a view of the hamlet which preserves a moment in time prior to the town’s recent addition of new sidewalks and streetlamps. The artist will present a framed giclée print of the painting to the Town of Hillsdale during a reception and artist talk that takes place on Sat, Nov 25, at 6pm.

USTAD SHAFAAT KHAN BRINGS RAGA to REGION

(ALBANY and CATSKILL, N.Y.) – Fans of sitar and Indian classical music have two chances to catch the world-renowned sitar virtuoso Ustad Shafaat Khan on his “East Meets West” tour, which stops at WAMC’s performance space, the Linda, on Sat, Nov 18, at 8pm, and at Bridge Street Theatre in Catskill on Sun, Nov 19, at 2pm. The concert will include traditional music and contemporary fusion.
