(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Strange Figurations, featuring works by 25 “inexplicable” artists, is on display at Limner Gallery through Saturday, October 4, 2014.
The exhibition is meant to focus viewers’ attention on unusual and inexplicable figurative art forms.
“Some works seem intended to shock us with meaningless weirdness, weirdness for it’s own sake,” says the exhibition’s curator. “Other pieces tell stories and although strange in appearance, have political and cultural messages attached. Overall the intent is to provoke thought, through direct symbolism, storytelling and by touching our innate, primal curiosity.”
The Limner Gallery will be open during the exhibition for public viewing Wednesday to Saturday noon-5pm. The gallery is also open by appointment.
Limner Gallery is at 123 Warren St.
