The saddest development in contemporary education

McTeachersby Seth Rogovoy

(HUDSON, N.Y.) – No child left behind? I don’t know whether to laugh or cry about this sign posted just a few blocks away at the local elementary school. Is it the pairing of the quintessential junk food purveyor and its most vulnerable market — the youngest consumers – in a school-sanctioned event? Is it the diminution of teachers by comparing them to fast food? Is it the offer of free food to entice “ppl” to attend the event? Is it the limitation of free food to the “first 50” in order to keep their expenses down AND to bribe people to attend fast and early and to create a frenzy (as well as the inevitable disappointment for those probably attending because, after all, it’s free food, and this is a very poor town, but they arrived too late)? I used to be disgusted — and I still am.
