HONKY-TONK AMERICANA FESTIVAL COMING to HELSINKI HUDSON

(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Seth’s Sauerkraut Revue, a mini-festival of regional Americana and honky-tonk performers hosted by “Sauerkraut” Seth Travins, returns to Club Helsinki Hudson on Saturday, March 15, at 9pm, featuring Miss Tess; Melora Creager (of Rasputina); Pat Linnan (of Nature Films); the Minivans; Robby Lee Coalter; Chris Neumann; and a reunion of Jim Krewson and Jennie Benford (of Jim and Jennie and the Pinetops). The house band for the evening will be Chops and Sauerkraut.

(ANNANDALE-on-HUDSON, N.Y.) – The Turn of the Screw by Benjamin Britten and the world premiere of Payne Hollow by Shawn Jaeger, with libretto by Wendell Berry, will be staged by the Graduate Vocal Arts Program of the Bard College Conservatory of Music in the Sosnoff Theater of the Fisher Center at Bard College on Friday, March 14, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 16, at 2 p.m.

Quiet in the HeadQUIET IN THE HEAD to BRING EASTERN SOUNDS to SPOTTY DOG

(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Regional act Quiet In The Head, the ongoing musical project of guitarist Seamus Maynard and violinist Jonathan Talbott, will perform at Spotty Dog Books & Ale on Thursday, March 13, at 8pm. Their original acoustic music has evolved over many years of playing together and is always an exploration of texture and melody. There are echoes of familiar influences such as tango, Middle Eastern and Eastern European gypsy music, but ultimately the musicians search far and wide for new sounds. For this program, they will be joined by Jonah Thomas on cello.

(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Hudson-based post-rock trio the Schoemer Formation at the Low Beat in Albany on Thursday, March 13, at 8pm. The Schoemer Formation began when Karen Schoemer spotted Amy on the Hudson Amtrak platform carrying an Andy Williams album. Karen said, “I have that album, it’s one of my favorites,” and Amy said, “Don’t you just love his ascot?”
