(GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass.) – There will be an opening reception for an exhibition of paintings by New York City-based artist Alexa Saxton Thomas at Bizalion’s Fine Food on Saturday, November 24, 2012, from 5 to 7pm. Having lived, worked, and exhibited in Paris – as well as Rome and Boston – Thomas chose Bizalion’s as a venue where both French and American cultures are brought together in harmony.
Thomas’s work is heavily influenced by nature in all forms. It is about light and emotion portrayed as instances held still in time. Colors are always explosive and vibrant, and there is high contrast between light and dark, as expressions and body language interaction within natural settings express wonder about life and mood.
Thomas was trained as a fine arts painter at the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, R.I. She has lived, worked and held shows throughout the world in places such as Rome, Paris, Boston and New York where currently resides.
Thomas is also a clean food and preventative health activist, having overcome cancer at young age. Importantly, 10% of the artist’s proceeds will be set aside for the creation of an educational preventative health nonprofit organization to educate women and their families about health, exercise, mindset and the natural world.
