(ALBANY, N.Y.) – Four-time Grammy Award-winner Lyle Lovett will perform at the Egg with his five-member Acoustic Group on Friday, July 5, 2013, at 8 pm, as part of the “American Roots & Branches” Concert Series. Lovett is one of contemporary pop music’s most brilliant and skilled songwriters and entertainers, and his live performances and bands are the stuff of modern-day legend.

In the late 1980s, Lyle Lovett’s literate, multi-layered songs stood out from and above the formulaic Nashville hit singles and the new traditionalists who were putting the roots back into country music. Lyle Lovett is widely regarded as one of today’s most sophisticated singer-songwriters, and performs his signature blend of folk, country and jazz that has earned multiple Grammy awards with his acoustic group featuring Lovett (vocals, guitar), Luke Bulla (fiddle), Viktor Krauss (bass), Russ Kunkel (drums) and Keith Sewell (guitar).

Finely wrought and full of wit, wisdom, and Texas-sized storytelling, Lyle Lovett writes songs rife with characters and concepts that loom large on the American landscape. Lovett has led a remarkable career that includes 14 albums and more than four million records sold. His idiosyncratic style intersects an array of genres from gospel, blues, soul, heartfelt ballads, jazz, bluegrass, swing, and straight-up country.

Lovett performed a terrific and memorable concert with his Acoustic Group in December 2011 at the Mahaiwe in Great Barrington, Mass.
