BRENTANO to PLAY BEETHOVEN, DEBUSSY, MENDELSSOHN at TANNERY POND
(NEW LEBANON, N.Y. ) – The Brentano String Quartet will play works by Beethoven, Debussy, Mendelssohn in the final program of the Tannery Pond Concerts season on Saturday, September 21, 2013, at 6pm. The program includes Beethoven’s String Quartet in D major, OP. 18, No. 3; Debussy’s Quartet in G minor, Op. 10; and Mendelssohn’s String Quartet in D major, Op. 44, No. 1.

THE MOUNT’S LITERARY FESTIVAL CONCLUDES with ‘DEATH MATCH,’ READING BY MARK STRAND
(LENOX, Mass.) – The Berkshire premiere of Literary Death Match on Friday, September 20, at 7 pm and a free public reading by Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Mark Strand on Saturday, September 21, at 4 pm, bring the curtain down on this month’s WordFest at The Mount, the three-year-old literary festival held at Edith Wharton’s Berkshire home.
Literary Death Match with creator Adrian Todd Zuniga features literary and other well-known luminaries who will serve as performers and judges for a witty and fun-filled show. Participants will include Jim Shepard, Ophira Eisenberg, Jason Diamond, Rachel Shukert, Steve Almond, Brando Skyhorse, and Cristin O’Keefe Aptowicz.
Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Mark Strand will read from his selected works, including prose poems from Almost Invisible, his most recent book. The reading will be free and open to the public. Reservations are encouraged, but not required.
APOLLO TRIO to PLAY MOZART, RACHMANINOFF and SCHUBERT at MEETING HOUSE
(NEW MARLBOROUGH, Mass.) – The Apollo Trio will play piano trios by Mozart, Rachmaninoff and Schubert at New Marlborough’s historic Meeting House on Saturday, September 21, 2013, at 4:30 p.m., as part of the Music and More series. A reception follows the concert in the Meeting House Art Gallery.

BOBBY PREVITE LEADS NEW JAZZ SERIES DEDICATED TO ELECTRIC MILES DAVIS at HELSINKI HUDSON
(HUDSON, N.Y.) – The Voodoo Orchestra North, led by legendary jazz drummer, improviser and composer Bobby Previte – a recent transplant to Hudson – and featuring many great upstate New York musicians, will play its third session in a regular series of performances devoted to exploring the music of Miles Davis’s eternal electric jazz-funk masterpiece, “Bitches Brew,” at Club Helsinki Hudson on Monday, September 23, at 8pm.
