(CHATHAM, N.Y.) – “Tennessee Williams: Straight Up and Salted with a Twist,” a Blue Horse Repertory production presented by PS21, will be given a “pop up” performance on Saturday, November 30, 2013, in the storefront at 12 Main Street, Chatham. The two-part program includes a performance of Tennessee Williams’ “The Lady of Larkspur Lotion” at 3:30 pm, followed by a reading of Christopher Durang’s Tennessee Williams parody, “For Whom the Southern Belle Tolls,” at 5pm.

Williams’ “The Lady of Larkspur Lotion” is a one-act play that takes place in New Orleans and is about the clash between dreams and reality. As one of the characters in the play asks, “Is she to be blamed because it is necessary for her to compensate for the cruel deficiencies of reality by the exercise of a little — what shall I say? — God-given — imagination?” Lora Lee Ecobelli, James Occhino, Nancy Rothman are directed by Roger Simon. Durang’s “For Whom the Southern Belle Tolls” is a hilarious send-up of Williams’s “The Glass Menagerie.” The New York Times declared, “With the help of Mr. Durang, the fine art of parody has returned to theater in a production you can sink teeth and mind into, while also laughing like an idiot.” Lora Lee Ecobelli, Andrew Joffe, Byron Nilsson, and Nancy Rothman are directed by Nancy Rothman. Admission is by donation. There is time before, between, and after the performances for the audience to enjoy the riches of Chatham’s Main Street by shopping locally for the holidays or  dining at one of Chatham’s cafes or restaurants.

All donations collected at the door will go to the actors who made the performances. These performances are recommended for audiences 16 years old and up.
