The Franklin Electric to Bring Rootsy Chamber-Rock to Club Helsinki Hudson

Franklin Electric(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Montreal-based indie-rock collective The Franklin Electric brings its organic brand of folk-rock to Club Helsinki Hudson on Friday, November 29, at 9pm. The group — which should appeal to fans of Bon Iver, Beirut, and their fellow countrymen and folk-rock icons, The Band — appears as part of Helsinki’s commitment to rising and emerging artists.

Songwriter, pianist, and trumpeter Jon Matte leads the Franklin Electric with his clear, expressive vocals that recall Jeff Buckley in their melancholy and range. The group’s confident brass section and strong harmonies add melodic support and drama to Matte’s personal, rootsy numbers that often begin with just acoustic piano or acoustic guitar and vocals before quietly adding some drums, horns and more instruments to achieve a kind of chamber-rock halo effect. (Indeed, the group is in the midst of an orchestral remix project of a number of their songs.)

For reservations in The Restaurant or in the club call 518.828.4800.
