Honky-Tonk Americana Festival Coming to Helsinki Hudson

chops and sauerkraut(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Seth’s Sauerkraut Revue, a mini-festival of regional Americana and honky-tonk performers hosted by “Sauerkraut” Seth Travins, returns to Club Helsinki Hudson on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at 9pm, featuring Two Gun Man; Chops, Sauerkraut and the Velvet Frog; Chris Neumann; and special surprise guests.

Two Gun Man is an Americana quartet fronted by singer-lyricist Reid Waring. Josh Miesmer sings harmony and plays Mark Knopfler-esque guitar lines; multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Talbott lends jazzy swing on bass; and Julian Seidenberg keeps the beat danceable on drums.

Chops and Sauerkraut are a hard-edged rockabilly, honky-tonk and garage band influenced by Carl Perkins, the Standells, ? and the Mysterians, Frankie Yankovic, Elvis Presley, Bob Wills, and the Cramps, featuring upright bassist Chops Laconte (Lustre Kings, Wanda Jackson), “Sauerkraut” Seth Travins (the Wiyos) on vocals and guitar, and Jay “the Velvet Frog” Gerald on drums and vocals. Hailing from Los Angeles, Gerald toured in the 1970s with the Drifters and the Coasters.

The evening’s host, “Sauerkraut” Seth Travins, makes organic lacto-fermented sauerkrauts and kimchee under his own label in Hudson. Seth’s original sauerkraut is served on the bar menu at Helsinki Hudson.

Seth’s Sauerkraut Revue represents in part Helsinki Hudson’s commitment to presenting the best emerging, rising, and regional performers.
