Ian Grey’s ‘Portraits with a Twist’ on Display at Parlor Café

Ian Grey Stephanie_(NORTH ADAMS, Mass.) – Elements: A Portrait Series, featuring “portraits with a twist” by photographer Ian Grey, will on display at the Parlor Café from Saturday, January 25, 2014 through Saturday, March 8. An opening reception for the show will take place on Saturday, January 25, from 6 to 9pm.

Elements: A Portrait Series is the first installment of an ongoing project by Grey. Born of a passion for the human figure and inspired by the black & white photography of Greg Gorman, Elements borrows from the lives of those photographed to create “portraits with a twist.”

Ian Grey Nancy BWith more than 50 pieces, Elements is Grey’s largest exhibit to date. The collection is diverse, as are the subjects, who include politicians, students, educators, musicians, mothers-to-be, authors, artists and veterans. Images include classic and not-so-classic portraiture.

The Parlor Cafe is at 303 Ashland St., across from the MCLA campus. In addition to showcasing artworks, the café offers light fare, coffee and tea, and local beer and wines. Hours: M-F 7:30-11:30, Sat 9:30-11:30, closed Sundays.
