Heather Maloney to Bring Jazzy Folk-Rock to Helsinki Hudson

Heather Maloney(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Singer-songwriter Heather Maloney will bring her unique blend of folk, rock, jazz and pop to Club Helsinki Hudson on Friday, April 4, at 9pm. Critics have likened Maloney’s blend of pop songcraft and meaningful, at times outspoken, lyrics to those of Aimee Mann, Erin McKeown and Ani DiFranco. Some have also invoked Ella Fitzgerald and the Beatles to encapsulate her broad, commanding range of styles and her unique voice.

Heather Maloney had one of her first public shows at a small coffee shop in Northampton, Mass., in September 2009. She was so nervous she had to be prodded onto the stage. Two years later, in July 2011, she walked out onto the stage at the Calvin Theater in front of 1,500 fans of the Grammy Award-winning artist Jonny Lang and brought them to their feet in applause. Lang immediately asked her to open three more shows and called her “an extremely talented songwriter and incredibly great singer.”

In addition to Lang, Maloney has shared the stage with such celebrated acts as Chip Taylor & Carrie Rodriquez, Winterpills, Loudon Wainwright III, David Wax Museum, Devil Makes Three, Caravan of Thieves, Jeffrey Gaines, Darlingside, Jill Sobule and many more. Maloney has been nominated for an independent music award, chosen as an emerging artist at Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, and records for premiere new-folk label Signature Sounds.
