Berkshire Creative’s Annual Fashion Re-Sale Event Takes Place in Stockbridge

BerkChique(STOCKBRIDGE, Mass.) — BerkChique!, the annual pop-up shop and gently-used clothing sale to benefit Berkshire Creative, takes place at Stockbridge Town Hall on Saturday, May 3, 2014, from 9am to 4pm, and on Sunday, May 4, 2014, from 10am to 2pm. Admission is free.

The event kicks off its third year with a preview party on Friday, May 2, 2014 from 5:30pm to 8pm at the Stockbridge Town Hall. The weekend event will continue with public sale hours on Saturday, May 3 from 9am to 4pm and Sunday, May 4 from 10am to 2pm. BerkChique! has quickly become the go-to event for fashion finds from some of the best closets in the Berkshires. The event was established by Berkshire Creative Chair Emeritus Nancy Fitzpatrick in 2012 as a fun way to support Berkshire Creative, an organization which provides valuable resources, services, and programs that grow and sustain Berkshire County’s creative industries and economy.

“It is a great way for both those donating and purchasing to refresh their closets for the spring,” says BerkChique! committee chair Sarah Eustis. “In this event we celebrate and support some of the best aspects of our community: creativity, style, and up-cycling.”

Described as a “clothing swap on steroids” by RuralIntelligence.com co-founder Marilyn Bethany, BerkChique! features clothing and accouterments for both men and women including women’s casual and formal tops, dresses, lingerie, cashmere sweaters, jackets, coats, slacks, and jeans as well as men’s pants, shirts, and jackets – all donated by the areas chique-est boutiques and individuals.

In addition to these contemporary offerings, BerkChique! features an exclusive selection of vintage pieces by hard-to-find European designers such as Rifat Özbek and Dries Van Noten.

Fashionistas, trendsters, stylists, and tag sale shoppers can get preferential access to the sale at the BerkChique! Friday Night Preview Party on May 2. Tickets are $25 or $20 for Berkshire Creative members. Preview party attendees will enjoy first dibs at this year’s BerkChique! racks, a fashion show with music mixed by DJ RothFitz, tasty nibbles from The Red Lion Inn, a cash bar, and more. Tickets can be purchased online in advance at  a preview party or at the door.

Everything at BerkChique! is one-of-a-kind, high quality, and new or gently used; as a result, the sizes vary. The majority of items are affordably priced between $5 and $40. Most T-shirts, sweaters, handbags, and shoes will be tagged at low price brackets, and all jeans will be sold at $5 a pair.

Some special, higher priced items can also be found throughout the sale. These designer garments feature brands such as Jean Paul Gaultier, Alexander McQueen, Versace, Donna Karan, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Jenny Packham, Ann Demeulemeester, Yohji Yamamoto, Valentino, Oscar de la Renta, Moschino, Vivienne Westwood, Fendi, Ungaro, and Temperley London.

Women’s and girl’s purses, clutches, scarves, costume jewelry, and shoes including new and vintage flats, tennis shoes, patent leather, and platform heels are some of the stylish accessories that can be found at BerkChique.

At the close of the weekend sale, many items are donated to local nonprofit organizations and agencies including the Berkshire Botanical Garden, Goodwill Industries of the Berkshires, Inc., and Suit YourSelf – a program of Goodwill Berkshires that provides free workplace attire to promote and support residents of Berkshire County and the surrounding area who are entering the workforce.

BerkChique! is made possible with the support of The Red Lion Inn, founding sponsor; presenting sponsor Berkshire Money Management; and the 2014 BerkChique! Committee: Lisa Betkoski, Vicki Bonnington, Carla Child, Julia Dixon, Sarah Eustis, Nancy Kalodner, Rebecca Weinman, Bonita Wilson, and event founder Nancy Fitzpatrick.

In-kind sponsors include the Town of Stockbridge, David and Lauri Tierney, Ogden Gigli Photography, Berkshire Beauty, Iredale Mineral Cosmetics, Evviva!, and Vlada’s Boutique.
