RYDER COOLEY BRINGS NEW MULTIMEDIA PROGRAM ‘REVIVAL’ to TAVERN BAR in TROY

(TROY, N.Y.) – Performance artist Ryder Cooley will present her new multimedia work, “Revival,” at the Tavern Bar and Library above Pecks Arcade (217 Broadway) coinciding with Troy Night Out on Friday, February 27, at 9pm. The program is a 20-minute live-cinema performance comprised of re-edited archival film, live music, recorded sound, projections, shadows and movement. Cooley will also perform a selection of musical numbers from her vast repertoire with her Dust Bowl Faeries bandmate Karen Cole. Regional storyteller Richard Lovrich of Regrettable Lagniappe fame will be introducing each of the sets with a series of short story readings topically appropriate to the evening’s theme.

MOMENTA QUARTET to PLAY IVES and TAN DUN at SIMON’S ROCK

(GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass.) – The adventurous Momenta Quartet will perform works by Charles Ives and Tan Dun at Simon’s Rock College as part of the South Berkshire Concerts series on Saturday, February 28, at 8pm in the McConnell Auditorium of the Daniel Arts Center. The program will include the Second String Quartet of Charles Ives followed by “Ghost Opera,” a theatrical work for quartet and pipa, a Chinese lute, composed by Tan Dun, perhaps China’s best known living composer. The quartet will be joined in this performance by pipa virtuoso Zhou Yi.

SCULPTURES BY BRUNO PASQUIER-DESVIGNES at HUDSON OPERA HOUSE

(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Caprices, a solo exhibition of sculptures by Bruno Pasquier-Desvignes, curated by R.O. Blechman, is on view at the Hudson Opera House through Sunday, March 29. The exhibit includes a selection of Pasquier-Desvignes sculptures made from recycled and found materials including wooden wine crates, cardboard boxes, wire hangers, plastic bottles, and bicycle wheels. Pasquier-Desvignes cuts and paints and reassembles whatever is at hand to create expressive and wonderfully detailed sculptures; for his animation film, “The Song of Roland,” he used corks and toothpicks, and he filled Grand Central Station in New York City and the Centro Cultural Borges in Buenos Aires with his Musical Bicycle sculptures.

The show also features unique burned and scorched works on paper by Paul Chojnowski and watercolors by Scott Nelson Foster.
