(HUDSON, N.Y.) – The night after the newly formed Charlie Hunter Trio debuts its new album, “Let the Bells Ring On,” at Joe’s Pub in Manhattan, Hunter brings his new lineup and music to Club Helsinki Hudson, the new home base for the trio’s drummer, music visionary Bobby Previte, on Thursday, June 11, at 8pm, for an exclusive, small-town club engagement on a tour that has the famed acid-jazz guitarist and his henchman, including the legendary jazz trombonist Curtis Fowlkes, playing gigs at major clubs in Philadelphia, DC, San Diego, Oakland, Boston, and Phoenix.

MELISSA ETHERIDGE BRINGS SOLO TOUR to BARDAVON

(KINGSTON, N.Y.) – Heartland rocker Melissa Etheridge sheds the trappings of her full complement of musicians to perform as solo show at the Bardavon on Sunday, June 14 at 7pm, as part of her  “Melissa Etheridge: This is M.E Solo” tour.  When I first saw Etheridge perform solo in a small concert hall in Lenox, Mass., I felt like I was witnessing the second coming of Bruce Springsteen, and indeed, in the 1990s, Etheridge developed a fanatical fan base that eventually saw her headlining arena and shed tours with a powerful band that rivaled the E Street Band.

(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Pulitzer Prize-nominated author David Gates and Albany’s Karen Lin-Greenberg will read from recent works at Time and Space Limited on Sunday, June 14, at 7pm, in a co-presentation by Karen Schoemer, Bookseller. Gates will be reading from his new collection, “A Hand Reached Down to Guide Me: Stories and a Novella,” published by Knopf. Lin-Greenberg will read from her story collection “Faulty Predictions,” winner of the 2013 Flannery O’Connor award for short fiction. Books by both authors will be available for purchase and signing.

ONE-WOMAN SHOW GETS ONE-NIGHT RUN at STAGEWORKS/HUDSON

(HUDSON, N.Y.) – “The Fiery Sword of Justice,” a one-woman show written and performed by Lauren Letellier, will be performed at Stageworks/Hudson on Friday, June 12, at 8pm. The work is described as “a comedic, cautionary tale about a high powered public relations executive whose compulsive truth-telling torpedoes her career.”
