BOB DYLAN PLAYS TWO SHOWS at NEW KINGSTON, N.Y., VENUE
(KINGSTON, N.Y.) – Nobel Prize-winning rock poet Bob Dylan and His Band will perform at the Hutton Brickyards on Friday and Saturday, June 23-24, at 8pm. The shows will be Dylan’s first-ever in Kingston and will mark the inaugural concerts of the city’s new riverfront concert venue.
MOZART’S CLARINET QUINTET on TAP at ASTON MAGNA
(GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass., and ANNANDALE-on-HUDSON, N.Y.) – Aston Magna Music Festival presents Late, Great Mozart, showcasing historical clarinet master Eric Hoeprich, at Bard College on Friday, June 23 at 8pm, and at Saint James Place in Great Barrington on Saturday, June 24 at 6pm. The concert includes Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet, K. 563 and K. 581.
JOHN PAUL WHITE BRINGS GRAMMY AWARD-WINNING COUNTRY-FOLK to HELSINKI HUDSON
(HUDSON, N.Y.) – John Paul White, one half of the Grammy Award-winning duo the Civil Wars, brings his country-flavored neo-folk music to Club Helsinki Hudson on Saturday, June 24, at 9pm. Special guest singer-songwriter Lera Lynn, of TV’s “True Detective” fame, will warm up the crowd for White.
CALIDORE STRING QUARTET to PLAY DVORAK and HINDEMITH at BARD
(ANNANDALE-on-HUDSON, N.Y.) – The Calidore String Quartet will perform works by Mozart, Dvorak, and Hindemith in the third and final concert of this summer’s Hudson Valley Chamber Music Circle (HVCMC) series in Olin Hall at Bard College on Saturday, June 24, at 8pm.
The specific works on the program are Antonín Dvo?ák, String Quartet in F Major, Op. 96 “American”; Paul Hindemith, String Quartet No. 4, Op. 22; and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Clarinet Quintet in A Major, K.581.
CARRIE HADDAD SUMMER EXHIBIT HIGHLIGHTS REGIONAL ARTISTS
(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Paintings by Mark Beard and Corinne Robbins and works on paper by Claire Lofrese, Anne Francey, Sue Bryan, David Seiler, and the duo Kahn & Selesnick, are on view at Carrie Haddad Gallery from Wednesday, June 21, through Sunday, August 6. A reception for the artists takes place on Saturday, June 24 from 5 to 7pm.
SUMMER EXHIBIT OPENS at THE SCHOOL / JACK SHAINMAN GALLERY
(KINDERHOOK, N.Y.) – The Coffins of Paa Joe and the Pursuit of Happiness opens at The School / Jack Shainman Gallery with a reception on Saturday, June 24, from 2 to 6pm. The exhibition is one of two interrelated shows at the Jack Shainman Gallery’s Manhattan location and The School. The opening will feature a special performance of PATIENT(CE) by Company SBB as well as drinks, music, and local fare.
Serving as the centerpiece of the large-scale exhibition, The Gold Coast Slave Castles of Paa Joe honors the Ghanaian legacy of abebuu adekai, or fantasy coffins. The ornate sarcophagi celebrate death and the afterlife, sculpted in the form of objects representative of the deceased and their interests. In the 1950s, abebuu adekai were used only by chiefs and priests, but more recently have become a growing trend in surrounding areas of Ghana, attracting the attention of contemporary art museums and galleries worldwide.
BRAZILIAN GIRLS BRING MULTILINGUAL DANCE-ROCK to HELSINKI HUDSON
(HUDSON, N.Y.) – They are neither Brazilian nor all girls, but Grammy Award-nominated Brazilian Girls – fronted by the fabulous Sabina Sciubba – bring their singular, sophisticated, and catchy fusion of electronic dance music and world-beat styles to Club Helsinki Hudson on Sunday, June 25, at 8pm. Brazilian Girls are the descendants of New Wave pioneers like the B-52s, Grace Jones, and the Talking Heads, and sway shoulder-to-shoulder with contemporaries like Grouplove, Reptar, Of Montreal, Rubblebucket, and Moloko.

(HUDSON, N.Y.) – The Krakauer/Tagg Duo, featuring world renowned clarinetist David Krakauer and experimental keyboardist Kathleen Tagg, brings its innovative blend of world music, jazz, classical, experimental techniques, and electronics to Club Helsinki Hudson on Sunday, July 2, at 7pm, as part of the Rogovoy Salon, a new music and literary series curated and hosted by cultural journalist and music critic Seth Rogovoy.
