(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Musical eccentric Brian Dewan and dance-pop artist Stephen Bluhm perform back-to-back sets at Spotty Dog Books & Ale on Friday, November 1, at 8pm. Catskill-based Brian Dewan’s musical repertoire includes an autoharp mounted on a walker, songs about wastepaper basket fires, unlikely distortion pedal usage, and original and salvaged songs all showcasing a demented appreciation for the lesser seen quirks of existence. Stephen Bluhm, of Hudson, writes danceable pop in the vein of Magnetic Fields and Burt Bacharach – lushly wry ruminations on life, love … and dancing. He’s Hudson’s answer to Morrissey.

SCULPTOR TOM DOYLE in CONVERSATION at OMI

(GHENT, N.Y.) – Sculptor Tom Doyle will be at Omi International Arts Center on Saturday, November 2, 2013, at 3pm for an informal conversation with Bill Maynes, director of The Fields Sculpture Park, where Doyle is currently exhibiting five large-scale works, cast in bronze from original wood forms. The event will take place in the Gallery at the Charles B. Benenson Visitors Center at Omi. Refreshments will be served following the talk.
