Experimental Music Project to Premiere at Basilica Hudson

(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Nous, an experimental music project exploring ritual and spontaneity within music, will have its public performance debut at Basilica Hudson on Saturday, February 1, 2014, at 8pm. The performance follows a weeklong residency at Dreamland Recording Studio in Woodstock, and precedes the project’s New York City debut at Baby’s All Right in Williamsburg. These shows follow five-days of recording sessions in Woodstock, during which the participants will seek inspiration through various musical approaches, both ancient and immediate, as they explore a wide spectrum of improvisational possibilities.

A Stroll Through ‘Modern Artists’ at Carrie Haddad Gallery

(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Gallery owner Carrie Haddad has wild, whimsical and eclectic taste in artworks, and this is always reflected in the shows she hangs at her eponymous Carrie Haddad Gallery. That’s about as far as the family nature of the somewhat risqué cabaret-style evening of entertainment extends (although the group does on occasion tone things down for audiences of all ages, as it will at Club Helsinki Hudson on March 30), as seen at Club Helsinki Hudson this past Saturday night. The Bindlestiffs and their crew of acrobats, comedians, magicians, snake-oil salesmen, sword swallowers, trapeze artists, and musicians will be back at Helsinki doing their grown-up thing on Friday, February 14, and Saturday, March 29.
