(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Wilco offshoot band Autumn Defensebrings its unique update of 1960s-inspired pop-rock toClub Helsinki Hudson on Thursday, June 5, at 8pm. The long-running side project features Wilco members John Stirratt and Pat Sansone making original music in the style of such classic British invasion groups as the Zombies, the Kinks, and the Beatles.

NEW GROUP EXHIBITION at CARRIE HADDAD GALLERY REFERENCES NATURE
(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Nurture Nature, an exhibition featuring new paintings by Jeff Briggs, photographs by Jerry Freedner, and works by Kim McLean, opens at Carrie Haddad Gallery on Thursday, June 5, 2014, and runs through Saturday, July 13. There will be an artists’ opening reception on Saturday, June 7, from 6 to 8pm, open to the public. The shared theme of the exhibit dances around the subject of nature, its many forms, and the effects of human influence. A section of the exhibit is in memoriam to Lanie Cecula, a multi-media artist and close friend of Carrie Haddad, and includes a never-before-seen selection of Cecula’s personal drawings.

(HUDSON, N.Y.) – A triple-bill of musical performers including Horse Lords, Lucrecia Dalt, and Palm on Wednesday, June 4, at 8pm, followed by a screening and discussion of Stanley Kubrick’s “The Shining” by game developer Kevin McLeod on Thursday, June 5, at 8pm, kick off the summer season this week at Basilica Hudson.
ZOE MUTH BRINGS ORIGINAL TAKE on CLASSIC COUNTRY SOUNDS to HELSINKI HUDSON
(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Country singer Zoe Muth brings her band, the Lost High Rollers, and her new batch of tunes from her brand-new album, “World of Strangers,” to Club Helsinki Hudson on Sunday, June 8, at 8pm. Muth’s clear, honest vocals and classic approach have garnered her comparisons to Loretta Lynn, John Prine, Emmylou Harris, Iris Dement, and Patty Griffin.

NEW EXHIBIT of SCULPTURE, PAINTING, and MIXED MEDIA at JOHN DAVIS GALLERY
(HUDSON, N.Y.) – A group show featuring works by six artists in a variety of media, including sculpture, painting, and mixed media/installation, is on display at John Davis Gallery through June 15, 2014. Artists represented include painters Reginald Madison, Alison Fox, Alison Hall, and Lois Dickson, sculptor Lisa Sanders, and mixed-media artist William Stone.
