(NORTH ADAMS, Mass.) – Plume Giant, the Brooklyn-based chamber-folk trio that favors pop melodies, a miniature orchestra of sounds and textures, and Beatlesque whimsy, performs in Club B-10 at MASS MoCA on Saturday, October 12, 2013, at 8pm. Comprised of Oliver Hill (guitar, viola, voice), Nolan Green (guitar, harmonium, voice), and Eliza Bagg (violin, harmonium, trinkets, voice), the band infuses its sound with soft whispers and vaulting vocals to achieve both intimacy and exaltation.

FESTIVAL FEATURES NEW CREATIVE WORKS BY LOCALS

(PITTSFIELD and STOCKBRIDGE Mass.) – The third annual Made in the Berkshires Festival, showcasing new works of theater, music, film, fiction, poetry and dance by Berkshire artists, takes place from Friday, October 11, 2013, to Sunday, October 13, 2013, at three Berkshire Theatre Group venues: the Colonial Theatre and the Garage in Pittsfield and the Unicorn Theatre in Stockbridge. Highlights of this year’s festival include a new play by acclaimed playwright Chris Newbound; a short story from bestselling author Kevin O’Hara; the premiere of an original composition by Gerard Burney; and “Mary and Edith: Musings by Women a Century Apart,” with Kate Maguire, Mary Mott and Kim Taylor in stories by Mary Mott and Edith Wharton.

(PITTSFIELD, Mass.) – Legendary rocker Dave Mason, a founding member of the English rock group Traffic, will perform at the Colonial on Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at 7:30pm. Mason is best known for writing and recording “Feelin’ Alright” with Traffic (later made into a hit by Joe Cocker) and for his 1977 soft-rock hit single, “We Just Disagree.”

(STOCKBRIDGE, Mass.) – Mary and Edith: Musings by Women a Century Apart, an omnibus evening of entertainment celebrating Berkshire literary women and featuring writer Mary Mott and actors Kate Maguire and Kim Taylor, is being staged at Berkshire Theatre Group’s Unicorn Theatre now through Sunday, October 20, 2013. Mott will share stories of her life in her one-woman show, “From Where I Sit,” and Maguire and Taylor will perform a stage adaptation of “Roman Fever,” a short story by Edith Wharton.
